From Wax to Wearable Jewellery
with Claire McArdle
Come along for a two hour experience of working with wax to make your own jewellery piece. During the class you will work with wax to explore different forms and techniques.
After the class, your wax will be cast into sterling silver and finished before being posted to you to wear and enjoy!

Make your own unique piece of botanical silver jewellery.
Create a wearable memory with Ballarat silversmith Claire McArdle in the eclectic surroundings of Windflower homewares and floristry store.
In this hands-on experience, you will learn about the process of lost wax casting to make personalised silver jewellery. Be inspired by Wildflower’s extensive range of botanicals and Ballarat’s famous gardens to create your own precious memento or unique gift.
Under the tutelage of Claire, you will use various tools, types of wax and techniques to create your own wax models, one of which will then be expertly crafted by Claire into an ever-lasting silver ring, a pair of earrings or pendant.
Claire McArdle studied gold and silversmithing at RMIT University, including partaking in an exchange program with the Estonian Academy of Arts. She has won national and international awards for jewellery making and is currently undertaking a PhD in fine arts.

Access to all the tools and materials to create a custom piece of jewellery

The price includes one piece of jewellery (ring, earrings, pendant or small object) up to 15g weight in silver. Please note additional costs apply for overweight pieces, multiple pieces, or for a piece to be cast into gold.

Drink bottle and snacks.
WHAT YOU TAKE AWAY
A few weeks after the class participants will be posted their professionally finished piece of silver jewellery.

She has over fifteen years of experience in jewellery and object making.
After growing up in Ballarat she moved to Melbourne to study and work and has recently moved back.
